Der Berliner Architekt und Stadtplaner Werner Düttmann wäre am 6. März 2021 hundert Jahre alt geworden. Die große Jubiläumsausstellung Werner Düttmann. Berlin. Bau. Werk feiert sein Schaffen und startete bereits im öffentlichen und digitalen Raum. Am 17. April eröffnet nun die Hauptausstellung im Brücke-Museum.
Als Architekt, Senatsbaudirektor (1960 – 66), Professor an der Technischen Universität Berlin (1966 – 70) und Präsident der Akademie der Künste (1971 – 83) war Düttmann eine der zentralen Persönlichkeiten von West-Berlin und prägte die städtebauliche Identität Berlins bis heute. Das Spektrum seiner Arbeiten umfasst bekannte Kulturbauten, Wohnbauten, öffentliche Plätze, Gemeinschafts- und Verkehrsbauten. Im Brücke-Museum werden Düttmanns architektonisches Œuvre sowie sein Werdegang vorgestellt und kontextualisiert. Ein besonderer Fokus wird auf sein Schaffen als Künstler gelegt, das auch intensive Reflexion in seiner Architektur findet. Neben dem Brücke-Museum werden weitere kleinere Ausstellungskapitel im Foyer der Akademie der Künste, in der Hansabücherei, KÖNIG GALERIE in St. Agnes und im Haus der Kulturen der Welt HKW gezeigt. Für einen sicheren Besuch ist der Zutritt aktuell nur mit einer FFP2-Gesichtsmaske, einem tagesaktuellen, negativen Corona-Test sowie einem vorab gebuchten Zeitfenster-Ticket möglich.
Ein Programm u.a. mit Führungen, Workshops und Performances - u.a. in Kooperation mit der ARCH+ - ist geplant.

An exhibition at the Brücke-Museum and 27 other locations

The Berlin architect and urban planner Werner Düttmann would have turned 100 on 6 March 2021. The exhibition Werner Düttmann. Building. Berlin, which already started online and around Berlin honours this anniversary. Now, the main exhibition at the Brücke-Museum opens on 17 April 2021.
As an architect, Senate Building Director (1960 – 66), professor at the Technische Universität of Berlin (1966 – 70), and president of the Academy of Arts (1971 – 83), Düttmann was one of the central figures in the urban and cultural life of West Berlin. His influence on the urban identity of the city in these various roles continues to resonate to this day. The spectrum of his work includes well-known cultural buildings, residential buildings, public squares, community and transport facilities. The exhibition at the Brücke-Museum will present and contextualise Düttmann’s architectural work and his career. Special emphasis will be placed on his work as an artist which is intensively reflected in his architecture. In addition to the exhibition at the Brücke-Museum, there will be further exhibition chapters in the foyer of the Akademie der Künste, the Hansa Library, KÖNIG GALERIE in St. Agnes and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
