The Department of Architecture at the RPTU is offering a position for a Research Associate (50%) at the Chair of ARCHITECTURE-THEORY-HISTORY, Prof. Dr. Adria Daraban. The appclication dealdine is September 2, 2024.
The RPTU sees the chairs’ activity at the interface of theory and practice, of the history and the present of architecture. As instruments of reflection, the disciplines of history and theory of architecture investigate cultural, socio-political as well as social backgrounds, mechanisms, and structures that influence the production and reception of architecture. In this context, architectural theory, as a critical cultural theory, is seen as having the responsibility to unfold its potential discursively and operatively. The focus of the work is the theoretical, historical and the curatorial examination of interactions between architectural culture, environment and society.
Activities include research and teaching in the field of theory and history of architecture, acquisition, preparation and implementation of research and exhibition projects, as well as conception and supervision of seminars in the BA and MA.
The positions are being offered for an initial period of two years, with an option to extend. The possibility of a doctorate is given. The grading is based on the TV-L. The position is rated E 13.
Employment Requirements:
- University degree in Architecture, Architectural History, or related subjects (Art History, Cultural Studies, History of Science, with a focus on architecture).
- Experience in the field of university teaching and research
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, rigor, curiosity and ambition
