The Professorship of Architecture and Design (AND) at the Technical University of Munich invites applications for media-based and practice-led dissertations in the field of architecture and design. For this new and innovative format the team of the professorship welcomes themes and approaches that combine practice and research in the field of architecture and design in a productive way. Application deadline: October 1, 2022
Doctoral dissertations should address one of our four research fields: Living Labs, Patterns of Care, 1:1 Prototypes, and Ecologies of Building. The doctoral research is understood to complement and contribute to the ongoing research of the chair and the department. Media-based dissertations apply methodologies of knowledge-producing, transferable, and practice-based research. A media-based dissertation consists of a written scholarly work in combination with another medium, especially a permanently documented creative achievement. This includes: new building materials, product developments, fully realized buildings, video documentaries, interviews, research-based exhibitions, educational and participatory formats, workshops, and publications.
