Professor for Public Intervention (W3)

The HFBK Hamburg is looking to fill the following position from October 2025, initially for six years: Artistic Professor for Public Intervention (W3) in the Department of Design.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven international track record in the field of art and/or design; their work will reflect on contemporary, political, social or economic conflicts and develop forms of artistic and/or design interventions that make a contribution to social transformation. The successful candidate will be expected to display a high level of commitment to the Department of Design and its teaching in such a way as to ensure socially effective artistic practice.

Professor of Environmental Practices (W3)

The HFBK Hamburg is looking to fill the following position from October 2025, initially for six years Artistic Professor of Environmental Practices (W3) in the Department of Design.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven international track record in the field of art and/or design and should work between the poles of practical and utopian responses to current ecological challenges to produce and exemplify an artistic and/or creative vision of possible futures. The successful candidate will be expected to display a high level of commitment to the Department of Design and its teaching in such a way as to ensure socially effective artistic practice.


Die Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg) is an academic university of art offering an internationally-focussed Fine Arts BA/MA degree course. The interdisciplinary programme of study offered at the HFBK Hamburg is composed of a wide range of academic artistic subjects and workshops. Students work independently and in a self-directed fashion through artistic and academic encounters, project work and experimental working practices.
