Europan E18 competition launches Europe-wide - with the theme ‘Re-Sourcing - Rethinking Resources’

Young architects and planners are called upon to develop architectural, spatial and strategic solutions that utilise existing resources wisely and further develop the built environment in accordance with natural processes.

Various tasks from the fields of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture are up for grabs at the two German locations of Regensburg and Speichersdorf. In Regensburg, the urban district of the future is to be created - visionary and experimental. In Speichersdorf, a former festival hall awaits new utilisation and an architectural redesign, the railway station site needs to be converted and 25 hectares of open space require an overall urban concept. We are looking for participants who treat the existing building and space resources with respect and care and transform them in an exemplary manner.

Kick-off event on 21 March 2025
With contributions from Andrea Klinge (ZRS Architekten), Anne Femmer (SUMMACUMFEMMER), Tobias Hönig (Studio c/o now), Frank Schönert (Hütten & Paläste) and Juan Lucas Young (Sauerbruch Hutton), among others.
Moderation: Dr Iris Reuther (Senate Building Director of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and Chairwoman of the Europan Germany Committee) and Kaye Geipel (architecture critic, curator and Chairman of the Board of Europan Germany).
