Die Architektur muss neue Wege beschreiten, um den ökologischen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit gerecht zu werden. Die Kreislaufwirtschaft, die Wiederverwendung von Bauteilen, ist dabei ein wichtiger Aspekt. Im Rahmen der ersten Architekturwoche Basel (AWB) 2022 soll mit dem Basel Pavillon eine radikale und ästhetische These für das zirkuläre Bauen mit wiederverwendeten Bauteilen formuliert werden. Es wird ein Katalog von gebrauchten, wiederverwendeten Bauteilen aus Abbruchprojekten in der Schweiz erstellt, aus dem der Pavillon entwickelt wird. Der Katalog umfasst verschiedene Baumaterialien, Typen und Massstäbe. Der Pavillon wird im Mai 2022 im Rahmen der AWB eröffnet. Er wird sich auf dem Dreispitz-Areal in Basel befinden.
Der Open Call richtet sich an Architekt*innen und Kreative aus verschiedenen Disziplinen. Sie werden eingeladen, ihre Ideen zur zirkulären Bauweise zur artikulieren. Multidisziplinäre Teams aus Architektur, Design, Kunst oder Wissenschaft sind ausdrücklich eingeladen, ihre Visionen für die Zukunft des zirkulären Bauens einzureichen. Durch gemeinsames Denken über Disziplinen hinweg können wir die dringende Veränderung bestehender Denkweisen und Prozesse in Bezug auf unsere gebaute Umwelt einleiten. Mit dem Basel Pavillon soll der Wandel hin zu einer klimaneutralen Bauwirtschaft forciert werden.

The First Reused Component-Sourced Pavillon from Basel
A programme of Architekturwoche Basel
Architecture must tread new paths in order to meet the ecological challenges of our time. The reuse of building components is an important aspect of this need. Under the auspices of the first Architekturwoche Basel (AWB) 2022, the design and programme of the Basel Pavillon intend to formulate a radical and aesthetic thesis for circular construction that implements (re)used components. A catalogue of used, reused building components from demolition projects in Switzerland is being compiled. It includes various building materials, types and scales. The pavillon will open in May 2022 as part of AWB which will offer local and international potential a biannual platform in Basel for the first time. The pavilion will be located on the Dreispitz site in Basel.
This Open Call addresses and invites all creative minds, working in a variety of disciplines to submit their ideas addressing circular reuse through architecture and construction. Multidisciplinary teams from architecture, design, art, science and beyond are explicitly welcome to share their visions on the future now. It is through thinking together across disciplines and beyond current systems that we can start the much-needed revision in existing mindsets and processes related to our built environments. With the Basel Pavillon we aim to inspire a transformation that will instigate meaningful, lasting change in the long-term and a sharing of voices, visions and perspectives in the present.
