Aus marxistischer Sicht ist die Konzentration der Produktionsmittel einer der Hauptgründe für Ausbeutung und Entfremdung im Kapitalismus. Während die Entfremdung der Arbeitenden von den Produkten, die sie für den Profit anderer herstellen, offenkundig ist, folgt die Entfremdung der Verbraucher*innen aus dem mangelnden Wissen darüber, wie die Dinge, die sie benutzen, hergestellt, erhalten und repariert werden. In diesem System sind Waren austauschbare Güter, die für die Mülldeponie bestimmt sind. Um dieser Kommodifizierung und der daraus resultierenden ökologischen und sozialen Zerstörung entgegenzuwirken, müssen wir uns die Werkzeuge der Reparatur wieder aneignen. Mit Hilfe dieser Fertigkeiten, Techniken und Kenntnisse können wir unsere Beziehungen innerhalb der sozialen und natürlichen Umwelt neu gestalten und die Produktion wieder in die für ihre Reproduktion erforderlichen Zusammenhänge einbetten. Vor diesem Hintergrund hat der Architekt Yoshiharu Tsukamoto von Atelier Bow-Wow sein Credo formuliert: „Werkzeuge für alle!“
From a Marxist point of view, the concentration of the means of production is one of the main reasons for exploitation and alienation in capitalism. While the alienation of the workers from the products they produce for the profit of others is selfevident, the alienation of the consumer results from the lack of knowledge of how the things they use are constructed, maintained, and repaired. In this system, goods are replaceable commodities, destined for the landfill. To counter this commodification and the resulting ecological and social destructions, we need to reappropriate the tools of repair. With these crafts, techniques, and knowledge in hand, we can redesign our relationships within the social and natural environment and reembed the production in the contexts needed for their reproduction. This is what architect Yoshiharu Tsukamoto from Atelier Bow-Wow meant when he formulated the slogan: “Tools to the People!” Text: Daniel Kuhnert
