Taller Tropical Moravia

Crowdfunding Kampagne

Oasis Urbano invites you to support the building of a collectively developed and self-managed cultural center for environmental education, sustainability and healthy nutrition in the informal settlement of Moravia, in the heart of the Colombian metropolis of Medellín.

Moravia looks back on an eventful history of emergence on the urban garbage dump and has undergone an impressive transformation process over the last decades. For the past five years, Oasis Urbano has been working in the community as a multidisciplinary German-Colombian collective of community leaders, artists and architects, and has developed various projects at the intersection of sustainable architecture, public space, participation, art and culture.

The Taller Tropical Moravia is a place of community learning and cultural exchange. In 2018, the collectiv built a first prototype together with the community, which has been visited by over 10,000 guests from Medellín and the world in three years. Now the time has come to expand the project spatially and make it long-term. Based on the experience of the prototype, a new concept was developed in workshops with the community. On four floors it combines a cooking school, a recycling FabLab, artist residencies and a multifunctional space. The open educational and experimental workshop also serves as a sustainable prototype in the informal context.

Oasis Urbano has launched a crowdfunding campaign and is grateful for every support!
